vrs not running well

Featured Replies

Hi all

I've had a couple of issues on my occty first of all my she wouldn't start a couple of days ago so i got a jump start and put it down to the cold weather and battery on its way out.

Then yesterday driving on motorway ems came on but car felt ok.

I started her today seemed fine. Then leaving work tonight driving home she started to misfire and revs dropped and it felt like the car was juddering.

my neighbour ran his diagnostics machine and got error p1296 which is a coolant issue. but on his rac code you cover it to p0296 which is Cylinder #12

With issues ive got i thought could be spark plugs/ht leads ect.

it sounds like its not running on all cyclnders

Has anyone got any thoughts what it could be.

The only mods are pipercross carbon intake

Thanks

It'll probably be a coil pack, common problem. Go for the whole set

Thanks. Was reading old posts and i wonder if it went back for the recall 28f7

Yep classic coil pack failure. Take it to Skoda & see if it's covered by the VAG recall/TSB.

It could be faulty temp sensor, that would cause running issues, check if you have the new green temp sensor fitted, its on airbox side of engine just under engine cover.

Had any temp gauge fluctuations or taking ages to get warm

phone skoda this morning systems down so got to phone back monday. so no car for weekend.

Sounds like your temp sensor/thermostat is up the duff too. If replacing, buy from a dealer, not ebay.

As said above use genuine bits, if your doing temp sensor i would do stat aswell,

I've done stat, bit of pain to do under manifold but nice to have a nice warm vrs, never has any sensor problems as yet, not even sure what colour one mine has in it it may have been replaced before i got car

If you have the old black CTS just replace it as it will fail if it hasn't already. VAG part only. Easy 5 min job to do. Check to see if the rad top & bottom hoses are getting hot too as if they aren't you've probably got a stuck stat.

You can get the Green top sensor (VAG std) from TPS and Euro car parts,

You can get the Green top sensor (VAG std) from TPS and Euro car parts,

Was looking on euro car parts but couldn't find one???

Theres one around the comer so very handy if they do them.

The only one i found which was vag was on skoda website.

TPS or dealer

ECP CTS is a pattern part not genuine VAG.

Any VAG dealer will have a CTS.

Hi,

faulty temp sensor, coil pack failure both can be the reason of your problem but not a big deal you can solve by go on the service center,...
