Outside Temperature Display - Accurate???

Featured Replies

Driving through Swindon today my Outside Temperature Display was indicating 32 degC - surely it wasn't that hot!

Anyone know where the sensor's located?

Does having a black car make a difference?

[apologies if this has been covered elsewhere but the Search routine rejects the word "outside" ]

:D mine said 34 degC in london today... thank the lord for AC

Sensor is located behind the n/s/f fog light trim. Sensor will read a little hot when stationary especially after a run as it picks up a bit of heat soak from the engine.

I miss my air con, but at least I can pull the back seats out, beats any sunroof i tell thee.

I pass an outside digi temp board near my office everyday and mine reads 0.5degree cooler all the time with that one, so yeah pretty accurate

Me too, agreed. ;)

28.5 deg C on the move and 29.5 deg C when parked up. Gotta love AC :D

Heat soak gentlemen! Nothing else. The temp gauge is pretty accurate but don't forget that ambient tempuratures are air only and don't take into account the fact of town and city heatsoak, cars, buildings and air-con units, hence London is always 2-3 degreees warmer than anywhere else. Took a day off today and travelled to Bristol on the M4, average temperature was 29 on the motorway, only because of the heat of the road and mass of traffic ;)

I was getting 29 degrees today when moving but it didn't seem that hot when I got out.

I'd guesstimate that I was getting at least three or four degrees more because of the heat from the engine and other traffic

Mine was reading 30.5 driving up the M1 yesterday

Hello, everyone!

A new member, here. I agree - phew it was hot yesterday: What a change today tho'!

On retrospect I think it had probably got rather hot sitting in Swindon Station car park - I see the Telegraph records max temp in Bristol yesterday of 27 compared to London at 32. I'd just come back from London by train and confirm it was VERY hot in London...
