Featured Replies

hi

recently i had my alternator changed and the following i noticed::

When going up the hill there is no boost or turbo engaging but on flat roads everything seems normal No black smoth no warning lights, could anyone inform me

what can cause the turbo to fail.

my other question is after reading few post the cost of turbo repair can be huge. is there a way to drive without the turbo connected so it causes no further problems.

kind regards

Trust me you dont want to drive with no turbo :o

Sounds like sticky turbo veins

Have a search for mr muscle turbo clean on here

Er, sticky vanes throw a CEL.

Errr no they don't, pre pd or early pd, neither, and I've done 29 now.

Mine didn't.

Before making the diagnosis that the turbo's at fault, have you had the car scanned with VCDS and live-logged the boost pressure?

Mine didn't.

I only once got an CEL, the rest of the time I got a code logged, but no light.

I would check that all pipework (turbo and vacuum) is connected as it should be, that all wiring (MAF, CTS and n75) is connected up.

They manually apply a vacuum to the actuator on the turbo with your mouth and see if it moves smoothly and gives full travel.

firstly guys i apologise for my lack of knowledge. I have not done no diagnosis. What shall i do first?

visual check that all wiring, turbo pipework and cabling to the items I mentioned above is correct. Then get the car scanned for fault codes, reset and scanned again after you next experience the issue.

Where in the UK are you based?

Have a look in the diagnostic forum and see if there is anyone near you with vcds.

My 2005 arl engine does NOT throw a fault code due to sticky veins and it goes into limp! And still no code
