Multi function Display ?

Featured Replies

New owner of a Mk1 19tdi 100 PD Classic (2003), the display in between the clocks lights up and shows all typicall symbols seat belt etc, before I start the car but when the engines running only shows things like low fuel or small picture of a car if there is a door open.

I can scroll through the little lcd display at the bottom of the rev counter and change between mpg, clock, range in the lcd.

Is this correct !!!

Thanks

The classic trim normally doesn't come with dot matrix as standard if it is fitted you should have a little rocker switch on the outside of the left stalk (the indicator switch)with a button on the lower end of the stalk, if these are not present then you will have what you describe just the basic warning lights

Left stalk? OBC selector is on the right stalk on all the vehicles I've seen.

It is on the right stalk as you correctly state........:)

Right stalk has button on the end and underneath, these allow me to scroll through time, elapsed time, mpg, miles left etc, and to reset the settings all in the small lcd at the bottom of the rev counter.

The display inbetween the rev clock and speedo only shows symbols when I first turn the ignition on and after the car has started if I open a door.

Apart from that the middle display is completely blank no signs of anything.

Am I right in thinking that because my rev clock lcd lets me access the mpg aswell as the time that a model fitted with a dot matrix the same lcd would only display the time !!!

The bigger display in between the revs and speedo, shows all my MPG, Av/Spd, Time, Distance etc when I scroll through.

But mines an elegance.

My display in the middle is completely black no signs of backlight or anything ?

Is it possible that the clocks have been replaced with a set not intended for that special of vehicle? Sounds odd to seemingly have a maxidot display but that doesn't display anything. Mind you I don't know what a Classic should have so perhaps they're all like that.

Hmmm, some time ago, when I bought my Sup, she tell me, that has problem with breaking light.

But, I coudnt belivet what I see, because it wasnt orange colour, but red.

Then I open the door, and it show me again(that I have opened door in red). It was more beautiful than the orange font/picture.

So, is there a way to change to red colour?

And one more q, is it possible to change green ilumination to other colour like white?

Is that hard to do?

Sorry your correct it is on the right side stalk brain just frazzled at the moment someone here mentioned a red colour on the dot metrix how about this one my 2004 comfort has a mind of its own some time but only in the morning mine takes a notion of turning red on the top half and it also changes to klms not miles as it normally displays then when you turn it off and back on it goes back to normal I wouldn't be that impressed with the red looks a bit cheap and loud

That's all mine shows.

Try this, if you have a rocker button on the end of your right stalk, press and hold either the up or down button for a few seconds, then you will get a menu come up allowing you to scroll through 'Car Status, Trip Computer and Display Off'..............;)

The classic spec does not have maxidot. So you won't have the display like above...

Not tru. My Sup have maxidot.

I'm 99% certain that UK spec Superb classics did not come with Maxidot, it just came with the basic warning lights etc. Auto Trader also confirms this, the classic models on there which have pics of the instrument cluster just show the basic warning lights in the space usually taken by maxidot.

I guess maybe it could have been specced as part of a sound upgrade or something although I don't remember seeing it on the options list.

Yea maybe it depends from country to country.

I complete forgot we are from other states.

Sorry.

Quite pleased really that my model has not got maxidot, I was all set to go and have it checked out !!

But I can still access all the mpg, range, etc via the rev counter lcd anyway.

Thanks for all your replys and help.
