Mk1 vrs, Plugs, Oil, & Brakes ?

Featured Replies

My son bought a 2002 vrs octy last saturday and need to know a few things.

What plugs does he buy? Not mapped, everything standard.

Rear discs.. What size are they?

Oil?

I think it may be burning a little drop. Not sure until I investigate it further ans check for any leakage. Would 5.40 be ok?

Thanks

Go to skoda to get all service parts

Get brakes from eurocarparts or the likes

Rear brakes are 256mm vented

5x100 bolt pattern

What plugs ?

NGK PFR6Q are OEM Platinum plugs IIRC. They are pretty pricey though. I just changed mine and it had some Champion ones in it so there are a few different ones available.

Copper NGK BK7RE are also used by some as far as I know but I think that might be for mapped cars as they are a colder plug??

Don't know about Cork but Monaghans Skoda in Galway are always very decent for parts, beating the autoparts places on price most of the time.

I use genuine service bits where possible, the plugs arn't cheap but i've never had a issue with them even after a couple of trackdays,

When your under there servicing it it might be worth changing gearbox oil aswell but again genuine stuff only as they really don't like other stuff.

You need a tool to push calipers back at rear as handbrake also works on them, I have bosch discs and pads all round but alot of people on here have pagid stuff

Will go for genuine plugs then.

Hadn't thought about the gearbox oil. ;)

Tool is sorted for the brakes.

Using Bosch discs and genuine pads.

OH

What oil to use?

I think it may be using or losing a drop.

Thanks for the replies.

The concensus is buy cheap, buy twice. I would go to GSF and look for 'Lemforder' arms. Euro carparts do them too.

or just stick a set of superpro bushs in original arms,

I have castrol 5w30 in my vrs
