Creaking from rear

Featured Replies

Ok, before I do anything, has anybody had an creaking noise from rear end and has a solution to it?

I changed the rear axle bushings, but it did not get any better. Is it possible, that it could come from rear springs insulators (the rubber pieces)? While back ago, I saw a thread from passat forum, that there are new style insulators for these, that are all rubber (or something). Original ones should be rubber coating metal pieces (or again something).

Mine does that too! creaks from the rear when I get in and out of the car. No noise while driving.

No idea what it is tho.....

Mine creak from the rear, when I get in and out and over bumps.

this has been covered a few times; if it is only when you get in and out of the car, you probably need to put the handbrake on harder.

Ignore it. it's just the handbrake and it's normal.

You can double check if it's the handbrake by getting in and out of the car with the handbrake disengaged, most likely the sound is no longer present. Don't start pulling the handbrake on harder.

It occurs while driving too and with handbrake disengaged. That's why I'm asking some advice, what to check next.

Mine occurs whilst the handbrake is disengaged when driving though too.

My fault with the reply. It sounded like you were experiencing the creak when getting and out of the car at rest. Handbrake is the culprit of that issue.

As far as your problem goes, I'm unsure what to check other than getting the car up on a ramp and visually inspecting the rear suspension. Get a wobble bar and try seeing if there's any play or excessive movement. Sorry I couldn't help further.
