PD Injectors - lots of diesel smoke on startup...HELP....

Featured Replies

Afternoon all

My PD VRS had its injectors replaced about 15mths ago. For the last couple of months we get white diesel smoke on startup, clears after 30 seconds. Can sometimes be big clouds othertimes next to nothing. Doesnt make any difference if the car is hot or cold. No smoke when driving and its definately white un-burnt diesel.

I took the car back to the dealer who installed the injectors and they ran full diagnostics and found no problems.

Could this be a leaky injector ? How could I check ?

Anyone else had this.

Thanks in advance chaps

Jason

I have heard stories of oil getting in the seals after the install. Maybe this is the problem

15k and over a year after the install ? Its white diesel smoke.

When running it clears quickly, could diesel be leaking somehow when the car isnt running ?

Sounds to me like one (or more) of the injector seals leaking and dripping diesel into the cylinders when the engine is stopped. I don't think theres any other way of checking for this on a PD other than taking the injectors out to have a look.
