Something a bit different!

Featured Replies

Bought this bike in April 2011 it was a bog standard Kawasaki zx7r that had been a bit neglected, it had 7 owners had been dropped on both sides a resprayed in black and yellow with a gold anodised exhaust which I hated (probably to replace one that got smashed up)

Generally it was tatty and things were broken but it was cheap and had only done 9k miles

It was rare in as much as it was a p7 model the last one to be made and was on an 2002 plate

So the plan first of all a nuts and bolts strip down and service despite being "serviced" by the dealership it'd only had an oil change so new filters brake pads and fluid clutch fluid and coolant

The day after I got her home with new silencer

Then to get rid of the shoddy black paint, the body work was cracked and broken and would have cost a fortune to repair and respray, so I hatch a plan I went on a website called super bike body work and ordered a full set of top quality race body work! The only down side was that there was no holes for lights front or back!!!!

I mulled over the possibility of buying led rear lights and a single projector headlight as the holes would have been easier to cut but I wanted the standard look to remain so I manned up and set to work making a template

Engine is planned to stay as standard but many other tweeks planned

Looks lovely, job well done!

Good job, looks pretty smart.

I just sold my P5 ZX7R on tuesday night :-(

Looks like you've already done the best mod for these, jack up the rear 10mm. Lose none of the front end grip and sharpens steering.

Thanks guys! Yeah wound the rear right up and even dropped the front down about 6mm, it turns so well now!

I just live the big old sports bikes, fine they aren't as mad fast as modern ones but the feel and size of the old bikes wins hands down

I just love 7R's lol, i've had 2 of them now.

Had a P2 with the red fairing and purple tail unit and wheels, very much an acquired taste lol.

Had the P5 for just over 2 years, only reason i sold it is i've only done 600 miles in over 2 years of ownership.

As much as i like the new crop of sportsbikes, i just feel im too big for them lol. The 7R's, my old RRT blade and my 98 R1 just felt much more suited to me.

Yep my sentiments exactly

I like I bike you can get hold of and fight with, without feeling like you gonna get bucked off it!!!

I rode a s1000rr, lovely bike don't get me wrong but too small too uncomfortable and too highly strung,

Mine fast enough to be dangerous why would I need 186bhp and the £13k bill to go with it??

You have my utmost respect. Fantastic job, there is no way on earth I would have been able to do as good a job as that. Especially not at home!

I was sh1tting my pants doing that! The holes were tiny to start with! I just went round with a flap wheel and file gradually opening it up!

Not fun but worth while

I so agree with you. The latest big sports bikes are too small to be 'comfortable', unless you're a child or midget.

Way too much power and capability for 99% of their riders.

Give me one of the pioneers of the class.

Oh I so miss my '92 Blade.

If I can find a decent one it would find a new home here.

Went to excel last year and they had mint examples of every blade colour scheme and style ever made! Epic display

There's some on eBay for good money but you'd struggle to find a standard one now

I'm looking for an RRN, as that's what I had.

Doesn't have to be standard.

So long as it has good bodywork and tank, I wouldnt be too worried.

I've been looking but not full time. If I come across the right one then I reckon there'll be a dent in the credit card.:)
