stop start keeps restarting

Featured Replies

Not sure if its the recent cold weather but as its quite mild today I'm still having issues with it

Today 6 mile journey before hitting a red light car switches off 10-20 restarts it self

A mile or so later at next set car won't switch off and I get the A symbol on dash display

I know there are loads of variables but not sure if we have a fault or its normal

Before I ring the dealers and get fobbed off saying its normal I just wanted some feedback on other folks stop start

It could be that the first set of lights it met the criteria to shut off but then may the battery level or something else just dropped after it switched off and then it had to restart.

I'd say that you need to go for a longer drive to make sure that the battery gets fully recharged before going to the dealer. My Mrs has been saying that her stop start hasn't been working too often in the cold weather with lots of short journeys.

Just to update the A symbol is flashing constantly while driving

It gave a high pitched beep first

I have been using mine for a great deal of short journeys and it seems all is well with the stop/start system. Even using most functions in the car including heated seats on full.

My suggestion is as suggested give it a long run to get the battery charged, although my thoughts are surely it should be up to the job and the loads put on it. Anyways a check if the above fails to resolve would be to have the battery or charging system checked over if all is still not functioning as should be.

Have you read page 67 of the manual? All possible reasons of none function of the stop/start are there.

Yes I read the book but this is the first time the light has been flashing

Tbh recently it has been used in Short journeys with heated seats blowers and rear screen etc on

It sounds as though some sort of fault has been detected. It might go if you switch the stop/start system off for a bit and then switch it back on again after a period of driving.
