Fakra Crimp tool......

Featured Replies

So, i've bought a fakra connector to try and fix the one i broke in my octy.

But I cant work out how its going to crimp the cable into place.

This is the stuff i got:

I've worked out the plastic bit slides into the main body of the connector to hold it inplace, thats simple enough and i think the cable from the aerial goes into the tiny bit of metal which inturn goes into the bigger metal part which is held in place by the plastic clip.

there is another metal tube which i think is the bit you crimp....can i just crush it with normal crimps or do i need specialist ones?

a Fakra crimp tool is very expensive, it crimps it in a hexagon press.

i did look into buying one myself, you pbably can crimp it with some pliers but you need to get it right

only one I found was about £400 iirc.

Im going to try using plyers as you said. It looks to be aslong as it all stays together and is making contact it should be fine.......I hope....

Try using a BNC crimp tool. think MAPLIN sell them for around £20?
