rusty discs

Featured Replies

hi guys, as a result from all that salt around the roads, my discs are really looking like they are rusty, not where the pads are but around it towards the centre. If I sand it, then what could I put on it so it wont go rusty again?

hammerite works OK. Or a blast of perhaps acid etch primer.

Pagid also do sets of coated disks next time you come to change them with those parts already covered

I'd suggest some kind of high temperature paint. Obviously try not to get it into the braking surface.

I personally wouldn't use Hammerite as I have no idea of the melting point of it is.

It can take a fair bit of heat, just a thin coating, dont slap it on.

I have also used some silver high temp spray, it wont last forever though, maybe 12 months before it starts rusting again.

I have coated bosch discs and they are rusting on outer edges, infact with all bad weather they are rusting on braking area,

Time to take it for a brisk drive now snows gone me thinks
