Had a the engine management light pop up a few days also temp gauge playing up!! mostly not working but sometimes intermitant ago so plugged in vcds laptop and its coming up with coolant temp gauge intermitant ,

so ive replaced the sensors with the below link and its exactly the same gauge is still intermitant! and light keeps poping up on dash! is there anything else that could be wrong to cause this? maybe another temp sensor i dont know about!

The air con pump was also showing fault or shorted wires found the said wires near conector on the pump and for time being just disconnected the wires from pump,, does this affect temp reading? thought id better note it!

possibly a new faulty sensor?

Given that the sensor in the link isn't the best, OEM sensors retail at about £25? It could be the sensor is faulty. Or it could be the pins in the expansion tank, but i doubt that.

I had a simlar issue in my audi, there was a break in the wires to the gauge.

When reading the temp gauge from vcds when the temp gauge is playing up the reading on vcds is also playing up? so surly cant be the dash as the ecu is displaying intermitant temp readings also ? might try genuine sensor?
