Use of Skoda roof bars with panoramic sunroof

Featured Replies

Can anyone tell me please whether the sunroof can be opened with the Skoda roof bars fitted? Skoda UK cant tell me, and nor can my local dealers. It seems the only way to find out is to buy the blooming things...

The reason for asking is that I currently have a pair of generic bars, which are fine except that the sunroof jams against the underside of the bars, which is a bit of a pain when travelling with the roof box on when it's hot.

I have the Skoda roofbars but not the sunroof, but I can't see how it would jam given the amount of clearance. They are held quite high above the roofrails:

Edit: Johann (900000) should be able to answer as he has both - I don't recall him saying there was an issue.

I've got the Thule bars and roof opens no problems and the Skoda bars look to have even more clearance looking at Martins picture above.

I have both and yes there are no problems with the sunroof opening. The underside of the rails are WELL above the top of the sunroof which is clear in the picture above. Just open your roof and you'll see it does not go higher than the top of the fixed roof rails. The Škoda bars raise the bar even above that so that old fashioned clamped style connections can still be used. So plenty of space.

Thanks all, very helpful. Looks like I'll have to splash out - the front bar is only 37mm above the closed roof on the ones I've got. Cheers
