Octavia headunit?

Featured Replies

The Mrs has got a VRS with a non standard head unit it. Was just wondering whats the best O.E setup that the octavia came with and if it would be a straight forward plug in and play? Ideally would like a 6 disc changer but dont seem to find much info on mk1 stuff?

Many thanks

Ian

They're all a bit crap, sound-wise. Very compressed and lifeless. And extremely compressed at higher volumes (they simply will not go much higher after a certain point, despite the volume scale still climbing)

I wouldn't bother.

However, I will be ripping my Symphony unit and changer out soon if you're desperate, but I'm not taking any loom out, or probably not the mounting bracket for the CD changer either. Hopefully yours should have the loom ready.

changing the paper speakers out is the next thing to do, don't think any of the octavias had a decent 'sound' package

Agreed. But even decent speakers seem to sound poop with the standard units.

oh yes, i meant change the headunit too....goes without saying:>

Well ive got a mk4 golf estate that I can rob all the speakers out of that. Does anyone know if a mk4 golf double din unit will fit? ie radio above and 6 disc bellow?
