Snap on mini trolly jack

Featured Replies

Anyone know if there's one Avaliable & at what cost?

Basically I had a wee £20 trolly jack I bought from eBay & it failed on me while changing a tyre, lucky enough I had the spare wheel under the car & that took the load. So quickly binned it, stuck with the sizzer jack that comes with the car but they are a nightmare.

So looking to see if snap on or even mac tools do a mini trolly jack?

Anyone?

what about a Clarke one from Machine Mart, or even Draper? Snap-On are wayyyyyyy overpriced IMHO

I have used a Lidl special for the last several years and its been great. Always backed up with an axle stand though, especially if I am getting underneath.

Got one of those myself, <£20.00 IIRC, paired with Halfords axle stands. Not had any probs with it and TuV tested/ approved. Only reason I never mentioned that one is because Lidl only have them in stock two or three times a year

I have the Silverline one that's in the Autoexpress review- it's fine for the twice a year wheel changeover on the Octavia. Don't think it would survive lifting the X5 though.

I have one of these http://www.amazon.co.uk/CLARKE-SADDLE-ALUMINIUM-MOTORSPORT-TROLLEY/dp/B0036UWMRK/ref=sr_1_3?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1359576915&sr=1-3

Very light and plenty of oomph for any normal car, lift hight is not that great though. I just use it for trackday wheel changes.

Also use one of these at home http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_254057_langId_-1_categoryId_255207

Very high lift, quite heavy.

We use Machine mart stuff in the workshop and it's fine.

Obviously load rated for what we do and they get serviced, but spend all day lifting minibuses.

Use to have a standard 2ton jack....................then forked out for a bigger/wider 3ton jack...........damn thing weighs about 38kg!.............BUT it is very stable!!!!.............made by SIP and has the release valve built into the handle so you just "unscrew" the handle.....

If you want something to carry in the car and not take up much room, get a Land Rover bottle jack from a breakers or eBay. They'll lift a car easily, stable enough and safer and quicker than a scissor jack. Team it up with a block of wood with a slot cut in the top and it'll safely lift most things under their sill jacking points as well.
