hi guys, a friend of mine from Greece is breaking his car and he is selling his brakes amongst other things for big turbo projects. the kit is so sophisticated that... if we normally take the brembo calipers and fit them to our cars, the pistons are the wrong way round, the big ones are first and the small ones are following. This guy though he placed the bleeders on the other side, relocated the hard pipe on top, and now the small pistons pistons are first and the bigger ones are following... I probably confused you LOL

SERIOUS braking power, I went for a ride a few times and it is just mad stoping power... probably because at the back he also has a 4 pot rear boxster Brembo calipers too... amazing...

Yeah need to do rears also

I ran 356 ap racing 6 pots front 330mm rears perfect combo but mega bucks

These for what they are very cheap and look amazing

But the biggest issue is need big wheels and when disc need replacing there mega bucks

TBH I'd say the standard master cylinder is too small for those without giving you massive pedal travel

Pity they don't come with the rest of the R8

he has changed the whole system including a few other bits... no issues at all, stoping was just unreal, we did a few times (@ 1:00am) a very fast section in a ring road in Athens with 2 lanes and very twisty and it was just amazing. Constantly accelarating to 120mph then down to 45mph in a few yards, over and over and over and over again, every time the brakes were there, unreal...

So really the brakes are useless to anyone who doent have the uprated system?

Not saying that since I haven't measured the caliper pistons or the master cylinder (but I'd expect it's true). You can't just bolt giant calipers on and expect the standard MC to cope with it.

In general you can get away with roughly a 20% increase in caliper piston area before you have to upgrade the master cylinder to match.

i agree, pistons are gonna be much bigger in these, they will work, but they will give longer pedal travel most likely...unless you uprate the mc

if you change the brake lines and change your brake fluid to a more heat resistant one, the braking will be much better than it use to be with the single piston caliper. Now if someone wishes to have the full potential of the brakes they will need to change the MC and then make sure you wear your seatbelt or else... under no circumstances I would call this kit 'useless' or 'inferior' to the factory ones which they are good only for one not very heavy brake and thats it!

changing brake lines and fluid, wont compensate for the large piston size, that cause longer pedal travel, you need to uprate the MC as your friend has done to correct that

What mc has he used?

As said changing fluid or lines will have no effect whatsoever if the MC piston isn't big enough for the caliper piston size. It's fairly simple MC size X moves fluid amount X to create X amount of force on a set caliper piston size.

Now if you make the caliper piston area bigger the MC has to move more fluid to apply the same force. To some extent it will cope giving you a longer more spongey pedal travel but there is a limit.

cant remember but I think from some big audi...

So please what will be the right MC for my pllaned Porsche 996 GT3 6 pot calipers??

Factory numbers are

right 996 351 432 90

left 996 351 431 90

not sure you will get the answer you are looking for, try on the mk4 forum, don't take someones word on it unless they have done it! as its not common territory.

Personally I'd want work it out myself. Nobody who has spent £1000s on big braks is ever going to tell you that the pedal is spongey as funk

yup, thats the problem, plus there is a lot of copying and pasting second/third hand information here from other forums (where people won't admit they have spongy brakes), means you are never gonna get a proper answer, unless you can speak to someone first hand who has done it, or unless you do it yourself.
