Cover for pollen filter?

Featured Replies

Hello people,

My first car cleaning session since I've had the car (2 odd months) checked the oil, tyres etc and I replaced the pollen filter hopefully it will aid my dreadful condensation problem...

Anyway I noticed I didn't have a trim cover as stated in a guide for removal - should there be a cover??

Thanks

There is a stiff foam type cover which needs to be opened to get at the pollen filter on my 2006 L&K.

The first time I did mine, I made the mistake of removing this cover completely to get access to the pollen filter housing. It's a complete pig to get back on........you should undo the two retaining studs and peel it back.....not remove it. Getting it back on requires loosening the torx screws holding that side of the dash on and prising it down to get the foam cover over the lower ventilation holes.

It's such a pig of a job that I bet whoever last changed your pollen filter made the same mistake I did, but didn't bother to put it back on. I nearly didn't!

I'm glad you've asked this question as I appear to be missing the cover too. Does anybody know if they are freely available to buy?

Cheers

FP

Thought it was a dump ass question... Oh well, I need a cover then lol

Did changing ur pollen filter make any difference to your car ? Mine steams up like a shower,,,,

Try the car dehumidifier bag from Seal Diving Products of Hull (on ebay) My Octavia estate used to steam up, not now even when I've had 2 wet dogs in the back...(canine variety.)

Here's what the cover looks like:

I haven't had any trouble with my car steaming up. I just replace the filter every other year or so as a matter of course.

Welcome to the Octavia!

Have you read the many, many different threads on condensation? I'd recommend a quick search.

There are several checks you can make to see if you have water ingress problems.

I just got these dehumidifier bags http://www.amazon.co...ils_o00_s00_i00

Only opened one to see how it gets on and so far no condensation at all and lots of rain this week so far. (I put it on partial shelf as it blends in well). Reviews on it are very good there are a small percentage of negative ones but my logic on those was, these are the people who have actual leaks not trapped water vapour living in car building up.

These are a well regarded German make and are reusable can be dried out after a few months by leaving it on a radiator overnight.
