HI all

I was hoping that someone could help me with a prob car has developed

I am driving a superb 1.9td with pzf engine code. car has done nearly 120 k miles

I have in the past spent a fair few notes on this motor in last yr or so new clutch kit

new egr, timing belts, water pump, new alternator clutch thingy , pulley tensioner etc

but this new noise has me stumped ! car tick over seems noiser than normal but still same on r/ counter

but it is when you give it a rev and as car returns to normal tickover that you get

A whiney droney sort of noise a bit vibrational as well. am going to be changing oil

Tomorrow ( weather allowing) so will be dropping botton cover and top cowling

so might see more then but a moment . not a clue ?? any help much appreciated

Check the engine top cover, the badge rattles quite a lot, Also check the belts, alternator, PS pump etc

Sometimes in my car the whiney droney sort of noise is the wife !!!!

There are problems with Valeo alternators. They start to whine and rattle from inside. That's due to anchor that is coming loose from inside the alternator. You can check this, but it might not be it. If you can get hands on some other alternator, put it on your car and listen then.
