Cruise control fitted

Featured Replies

Just had cruise control fitted to my Fabia vrs as I decided it would be useful for the driving I do. Took it in at 9am Monday and was meant to be done by latest of 3pm. In the end it wasn't done until Tuesday lunch time because they'd been looking at the diagram for the wiring on a left hand drive vehicle? Bit annoying but fine, cleaned car inside and out, saving me a job.

But I've found the steering wheel controls now don't work.

Trying to take the car back to the garage around work and needing to get transport is difficult so it's a pain in the rear.

Am I just being stupid, is there something I'm not doing? Or have they wired one thing in and stopped another?

Surely this isn't a big job. They making a meal of it?

Fit stalk, code option, job done....?

I'm looking to take the plunge and get this added to mine. The Skoda accessories brochure says it's from £189 fitted. Was it a dealer that did it as mine said they couldn't fit it to cars built after April 2012?

Well Monday and yesterday I had to make different arrangements to get to work, and then today to have found the steering wheel controls don't work is just annoying and having to take it back again is a PITA. (I would have noticed yesterday but my dad picked it up from the dealership yesterday)

Yes dealer fitted and cosy me £324

Maybe tell them that as it's seemingly their fault that you're having to bring it in again to provide you with a replacement vehicle for the day? Worth a try surely?

Yes dealer fitted and cosy me £324 Thats nearly double than the FROM £189

IIRC, on the Fabia II they have to drill the bulkhead to fit cruise. When I had the vRoomster it was 3 - 4 hours to fit cruise because of that. It's not like it is on an Octy / Superb, a simple stalk and code job.

I know it's a lot, but best price I could get from them really. I know there are other places that will do it, but I wanted it done by Skoda because there's a dealership not far from me and just in case anything went wrong. Just irritating that I'm going to have to try find time to take it back. Hopefully it won't be long and I can just wait around aldershot. Parts were about £150 and the rest was labour.

I'm surprised they need to drill anything , the shells are usually made the same and bungs or blanks put in if options arent fitted

I had a choice of climate or sruise , glad i went for cruise

Sounds expensive and a lot of work, guess i won't be retro fitting it anytime soon.

I'm sure £189 is a factory fit price!

Enquired when I picked my 5 mth old VRS up from dealers, quoted £289 (10mth ago)

Yet to do,but the urge is getting stronger

The price is from the Skoda accessories brochure, but it covers all models so the from £189 price could be for a Citigo or something other than the fabia 2. I don't have the option to post a pic but it's on page 21. I would definitely like it added on mine so will be calling the dealer this week.
