Hi All

Can i fit 16 inch wheels on my mk1 vrs?

The brakes are std.

Thanks Marko

early VRS's came with 16" spiders, but i guess i could depend on the design of the wheel!

thanks mate :hi:

As "Fear" implies, any VAG 6.5x16ET38 or ET42 with the 100x5 PCD will fit. You'd need to test fit a non-VAG wheel for caliper clearance.

Yes. :giggle:

Why would you want to though?

Cheaper tyres... less bone-crushing ride...

Also there os a compromise between handling and grip. The octy with atd spiders 17" onea handlea better than on 18" rims be it lcr rims or lightweight ones like oz or td. Reps are even worsw due to weight.

Might be even better pn 16" but then your cpmpromiaimg on brake size as the 312mm are the biggest you can have.

17" are the best imo for looks handling and ride quality

Not so bad on tyre price neither

tbh i wish mine had came with 16s

No intention of going bigger brakes, and top tyres for £65 is appealing, as well as the better ride quality

Depends on your idea of better. Easier on the spine, but more wobbly because of the increased tyre wall.

16s :D

Say woooooot.....

Are they like 9-10 inch wide hehe ;)

Bone crushing? The ride on the VRS is soft, unless you have aftermarket suspension fitted.

Soft as in bouncy, but it's not very forgiving when you hit lumps/bumps/holes. Not what I'd call soft. Pretty naff setup IMO. What I am referring too is that tyre walls are an essential part of your suspension. Wall size makes a very big appreciable difference to the feel/comfort, and affects the handling for a variety of reasons.

What are these sidewalls you speak of :D lol

You know, those 1/2" wide bits at the shoulder of your tyres that sit at a 45 degree angle.

Unlike proper wheels...
