Channel 5 winter road rescue

Featured Replies

Now on channel 5 new programme " winter road rescue" may be fun watch , they might be on snow socks

I watched it,i dont envy the lads clearing the snow up in scotland,im surprised that the RAC towed that bloke out in the range rover that was stuck at the bottom of his own garden after he locked his keys in it(im not convinced that was a accident),i liked watching the blokes with the big recovery trucks getting that artic that had rolled over out from the ditch.

Set up for the programme? The range rover

I did spot the Octavia pass the gritter truck near the end.

As with C5's other transport docs like the Eddie Stobart one, they portray things in the worst possible light and make everything so over dramatic.

WIth the big booming voice over "can the RAC make this life or death journey to save the stricken motorist" - well yeah, it's just through a bit of rain and it's a bloke who's locked his keys in his car!

Working in the transport industry, how anyone like Eddie Stobart could allow such a programme to be released is beyond me - late deliveries, failed deliveries etc. The other week there was footage of one of their wagons with a headlight out?

Interesting watching nonetheless.

Can't believe they were trying to clear the Applecross pass with a standard plough and a JCB, really needed a blower. However good effort to them. I've been over that road before on a bike and is is daunting even when dry, serious drops and gradients!

Think the programme was just to blow the RAC's trumpet abit,

That range rover, why not just fit a set of chains to the rear wheels and drive it out rather than all the drama of trying to tow it out

Because you cannot fit chains to a RR with the standard size tyres on, as there isn't the clearance around the suspension and brakes.
