Recurring lights problem with brand new Octavia

Featured Replies

I bought my Octavia brand new on 10 January. It's about to go back for repairs for the third time. The first time was to get the rear wiper working and cure the problem of the hazard lights flashing up to five times a day. It went in for the same hazard lights repair - including an overnight stay - earlier this week, and now the problem has just reoccurred tonight.

The dealer's repair shop is perplexed. I'm annoyed and have written to them demanding a brand new replacement from Skoda. Why not?

Any thoughts, please?

Get on to Skoda UK direct if you're dealer can't fix it. Make the most of the warranty!

I had a re-occurring problem with mine (central locking issues) that the dealer were seemingly unable (or bothered) to fix. I escalated to Skoda UK and up to one of their managers. There are specific procedures to follow and the only way that you would stand a chance of getting a replacement vehicle is if you formally reject the vehicle.

Just be warned though that the chances of getting a replacement Octavia are probably quite slim due to the factory no longer making the Mk2.

The dealer is certainly taking a genuine interest in solving the problem. They're discussing it with Skoda, as they seem bamboozled by it.

The dealer - who have always Looked after me in three purchases - are treating me well. But the ball is now in Skoda's (fore)court, I guess.
