Before anyone suggests I get an enormous FMIC thats not an option.

So, how can I improve the standard unit? I've seen a bit on here about a "pikey mod" that involves adding a vent to the wheel arch. Does this really make a difference?

Also, I've considered a water spray but again, do these really work?

the vent will help but only on a hot day as it lets the exhaust side air out so to speak so the inlet can flow more freely. the water spray will help a little too but again only really on a hot day

A cheap solution would be to employ a yute to train a pair of bellows on it....But where do you put the yute??

When I get round to doing the pikey mod on my current car I'll try and be scientific about it and log some charge temperatures, if my Vagcom can read that block.
