What are the 'mystery fuses' under where the tax disc sits?

Featured Replies

When trying to solve a problem with my glowplug circuit, I checked the 2 fuses in the far RH back corner of the engine bay. One of them, a 20 amp fuse had blown, but looked like it had blown a while ago, not recently. I replaced it, but hven't noticed any change in anything?? Didn't sort my glow plug circuit problem. What are these two fuses for? I think the other is orange.

I thought they were for the glowplugs as well. What about the 2 speed fan the diesels have, perhaps that's fed from there too.

the small one should be 5 amp (glow plug supply fuse) and the other should be 50 amp (glow plug relay) according to "haynes"

Shouldn't that be the other way round? No mention of the mystery 20A in there.

the picture in the "haynes" manual shows-

small fuse on left/glow plug relay in centre/glow plug control unit(nearest wing)

Yes. I've just been looking at the wiring diagrams in the back too but because they split everything up into different diagrams it gives no clues as to what could be in that cluster as well. There's a 25A listed for the fan control but whether that's Jonny A's mystery 20A or not who knows.

the 2 fuses under the scuttle are the radiator fan ones , the glow plug ones are in the plastic box alongside the glowplug controller, 7.5 A and 50A, have you replaced the glowplugs?

Not the ones in with the glowplug relay. They are further back. I'm pretty sure they are for the radiator fan now.
