Help with buying a Skoda Citigo

Hi again,

I initially looked at a few Up! cars but I wasnt very keen on the shiny dashboard. I did prefer the look of citigo better and would have been happy buying that but didn't have a great experience at my local dealers (who were trying to charge me too much as well as not telling me the truth about a few things). I had to give my company car back so not having any transport- i looked on the internet for available cars/ ex demos. I nearly purchased a Citigo from a dealer who was quite far from me but I found that they wanted a £500 deposit over the phone but wouldnt provide written T&Cs for the deposit, despite asking for them a few times - they seemed in a rush to take my deposit and & wouldnt supply me with t&c's, and therefore I didn't feel comfortable paying a deposit. In the end, I decided to take another look at a different local VW dealer who had an Up! available for sale. I realised the dashboard wasnt as bad as i first thought it was, and needing a car ASAP - i couldnt really be too fussy! Anyway- strangely, I managed to get a better spec Up! cheaper than the Skoda dealer was offering for the equivalent citigo model (SE green tech Citigo £9200 verus BMT Move up! £8900 plus a few extras) and I felt more comfortable as this particular sales person seemed a bit more understanding and was happy to provide me the written t&c's and reassured me about any other issues I had. Usually, in the past I just get to choose the company car i wanted and the company would sort it all out for me so this has been my first experience buying a car from a dealership. I thought it was going to be quite a straight forward and easy process but it was actually very stressful. However, saying that - I learnt a lot!

Hey Sal,

I'm glad you found a car you liked, regardless of make. You didn't need to explain your choice though, you are free to make your own decisions based on the information you had available.

Enjoy your Up! Welcome to the (extended) family!

That seems a pretty good price, well done.
