How to install MDI cable

Featured Replies

My German Greenline II model didn't come with an MDI cable :(

Though to be fair, it didn't say it was going to.

So I got given one for my birthday: http://www.amazon.de..._pr_product_top

But how do I fit it? Or do I need to talk nicely to the dealer/service centre?

Just push it into the socket under the glove box.

As above, just plug it in.

Therein lies the problem:

There is no MDI outlet under the glovebox.

do you not have the little shelf under the glove box?

if you feel about it should be there. its a small shelf bug enough for a large ipod or so. the connector is there.

even if the car didn't come with mdi?

Is it possible to fit it afterwards?

There is no little shelf or connector below the glove box on my car.

Not even hidden behind the trim (which doesn't go back very tidily when torn away!)

Can one be fitted?

Oh I dont know then I thought your car was Mdi ready...... I would have thought the car needed to have the Mdi already in place from the factory. I guess you could speak to your dealer about getting Mdi fitted?

There are some threads about this in the Octy and Yeti sections. Not sure how similar a job it is.

You said it didn't come with the cable. Would have made more sense to just say you don't actually have an MDI in the first place! Lol

I mistakenly thought my Greenline 2 came with the MDI interface, as they do in the UK - just not the cable.

So thanks for clearing this up.

I'll continue to use the AUX socket instead, then.

Anyone want to buy an unused MDI-USB cable, then?
