Mot, and top mount movement and wheel bearing

Featured Replies

I have been advised that my top mounts have play, but I have change the bushes and bearings twice abd there genuine skoda parts.... Any ideas what else could cause this.

Also it has been mentioned that my wheel bearing needs doing. Anyone know any parts suppliers with a decent price, and is it easier to just fit a new hub?

when you say you have changed your bearings and bushes twice, do you mean you have changed top mounts twice.?

Yeah, I have changed the rubber bush at the top and the bearings twice in 10,000 miles

Yeas for bearings not for rubber mount cups.

Yeas for bearings not for rubber mount cups.

That might be why they have worn so early on then. Heard lot's of folks complain about early wear on none OEM rubber bushes.

Go for Genuine as they are not dear and saves you cost in the long run

Did it say play, or excessive play?

My old octy used to get an advisory for play (but not excessive) when one mot tester did the test (Carl) but not when another did it (Mick).

I used the same garage for years and when I questioned Mick he said that's just how they are particularly when the front wheels are lifted up as when they do the test, and it was nothing to worry about.

Not rushing but will do.

He said play with wheel bearing but I do keep getting knocking from that wheel in right hand turns
