MK5 R32 calipers and 345mm discs upgrade.

Featured Replies

Hi all, I was wondering if anyone can help. I'm looking to upgrade my front brakes on my 59 plate octavia vRS and I was wondering if the brakes off a mk5 golf R32 with 345mm discs will fit? And without having to use spacers on my wheels? I have standard 18" Neptune alloys if that helps.

If someone could clarify this for me would be a big help and be much appreciated.

Thankyou.

Hi,

They will fit. You will need to get brake lines too as the std ones wont fit. Speak to DaveB at VAGBREMTECHNIC.

I think you need to shave a bit off the caliper on the neptunes, but they fit under Zeniths.

Hedge on here has done it, drop him a pm.

I've done it and they fit fine. I initially had no issues with the Neptunes clearing them, but I was running the used pads. As soon as I fitted new ones, the caliper was pushed out and stopped the wheel going on. We has to grind some of the caliper down to get it to fit. Not a big job but handy to know. Check out my previous posts, I put on a photo of the caliper with arrows showing what part needs grinding.

Having had this setup on the VRS and now the Porsche 996 kit, I'd urge you to look at that instead of the R32/S3 setup - its superior in almost every way and can cost just slightly less. :) If you were interested, DaveB is the man to talk to. :)

Or 6-pots and 350mm discs from a Porsche Cayenne, which won't fit under standard wheels

Thanks all for the replies. I want to stick with the R32 set up as it will look more oem and I'm trying to keep the car looking as standard as poss for that stealth look!

Nobafett, i had a look at your pictures of where to grind the calipers, very handy post, thanks for that. ;)

Rob, thanks for giving me the heads up on the hoses. Would of totally forgot about replacing them!

Just got to source some brakes now so I'm on the look out if anyone knows of any for sale, let me know. ;)

Thanks again,

Aidy.
