tfsi starting issues and underside rattle

Featured Replies

Hi

I've currently got a 2006 tfsi estate which I'm putting up for sale shortly as Ive just taken delivery of a blackline DSG estate.

SInce I've had the tfsi (1 year), sometimes its not very quick to fire up, slight bit of hesitation sometimes have to hold the key on full for a second or 2 and it splutters a bit, it doesn't always do it, prob half the time but sounds like its struggling to start a bit when it does. I've done 15k in it over a year (29k-44k) and its always done it but not got any worse. had service, plugs etc etc in that time too. Any ideas?

It may / may not be connected but recently I've noticed its rattling a little form the underside, I've noticed this in the multistorey car park at work most as it echoes and its usually when its in 2nd /3rd gear and facing an uphill slope at low speeds. Could be heat shield I guess but thought I'd ask on the off-chance to see if its common.

Any help would be great guys.

Cheers

Have you had a compression test?

I haven't mate no, what would that detect, cat breaking up?

+1 for heat shield.

The circular spring securing clips rust and fall off.
