Rear Wiper will not turn off

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

Help required from Newbie.

Purchased 1.9TD Octavia 02Reg for my wife just over a year ago, ran like a dream apart from rear wiper which sometimes switched off when asked, othertimes couldn't be bothered. Recently however it resolutely refuses to cooperate at any time, and whizzes merrily away regardless, whether turned on or not.

The supplier (not Skoda) looked at it when doing another job on the car and chickened out, saying "Worked OK when tested", the wiper continuing to do its job in my rearview mirror as I drive away.

Is this a simple matter, such as taking out a fuse, or do I need to place myself in the hands of a Skoda dealer ?

hatch?

Possibly water ingress into the motor assembly. Pull of the tailgate trim and disconnect the plug from the back of the motor.

Yep as mentioned known issue. Replacements arent hard to come by and refit, or just unplug and leave. Or remove assembly and fit a rubber grommet.

Funny old forum this, where the first instinct of members is to actually help out - couldn't have asked for a better welcome.

Hi fella this is common on these, what I did was got a new one took it apart and where the electrics are in the corner fill it with instant gasket and then just grease the workings inside before putting it back 2geva this stops any electrical problems in future!!

Welcome along. Have a read through the recent posts and I am sure you will soon start to learn about all the quirks the mk1 Octy suffers from.

As for helping out - it is better than working ;-) [joke: just incase mgmnt are reading this!] The diesel isn't a bad car overall. The 110 has a sticky vanes in the turbo, but otherwise nothing major engine wise.

All suffer from water ingress (doors, under the scuttle panel)

Hope you enjoy the car

If it is knackered I have a spare second-hand one in good nick, send me a pm if I can help.
