MOT today.

Featured Replies

Just had my Fab MOT'd and was given an advisory on the front suspension arms, they're worn. Was wondering if anyone can give me a recommendation on which are best to fit.

Cheers for your help.

you can re- bush the wishbones .... many threads about which bushes to use ... x type fabia bushes , ibiza cupra bushes powerflex etc...... depends what you want the car to do really

Id rebush your genuine arms. If you decide to buy new arms id avoid pattern parts.

You can rebush with powerflex for £100

there isnt really any need to buy new arms plus genuine would cost a fortune ... cupra rear wishbone boxers are around £20

It depends on the condition of the arms, if they have significant corrosion that isn't just surface rust then replace them but in all honesty they probably won't need it. If you have the time a wire brush and a decent anti corrosion paint will have them looking good as new.

I replaced my fronts with pattern parts after 12 years they had more than surface corrosion and the console bushes needed doing. Even with discount the dealer rate was disproportionally high, the quality was reasonable and they don't have the casting fault that the OE's do. Total price to do drop links, wishbones, ball joints, Powerflex console bushes was circa £100. A pair of genuine wishbones would have cost me more than that by themselves.
