Dealers :(

Featured Replies

I took my car in today to have the clunking done on the suspension (2 60 mile trips).

Anyway 5 hours later I pick the car up and my girlfriend has to drive it back and there is no time to test it as I got to get her back for work.

So I get home and take if for a quick drive, turn left and CLUNK, not happy they have changed the ARB but I believe there is possibly problems with the bushes.

I have to take the car back tomorrow and get them to have another lokk ARRHH.

Man that sucks. They should have checked everything for you before hand. Very unprofessional :thumbdwn:

Yeah, they should have told you if they didn't fix it.

Or maybe they thought they did....

The excuse I had was the service person was not there when I took my car down a few weeks ago to get it checked and booked in.

So when she test drove it before I picked it up she did not know what she was looking for.

I find that a bit feeble.

Although the trip to Cardiff was not a complete waste, I had a look at an Evo 7 and am now looking to get one soon.

You should ask them to cover fuel costs at the very least.

Are they not supposed to do a test drive after repair to make sure that all is ok, most garages I have used before always have.

You should try to get a reimbursement for your fuel at the very last especially as it is so far to travel, also didn't they give you a courtesy car?

What model is the Fabia? The ARB problems on the 1.4 MPI are sorted with a ARB kit that comes with new bushes and clamps etc.

Sounds like it may well want the uprated 'g' links aswell.

It's a vRS, just got back from Dealers and it seems to be some kind of driveshaft problem, it is very hard to detect and the mechanic came out for a test drive and heard it.

He put it up on the ramps and could not find anything, so they have said will need to wait for it to get worse.

Not Happy :(

Is it making a noise when you pull away?

It is quiet when pulling away only appears on slow sharp left hand corners.

Hmm, dodgy advice coming up. I'm OK because my car has been out of warranty for over a year, but your situation may be different:-

Take it to an independent. I just had my car serviced at Westec in Newport. Compared with my last trip to a dealer, it was like a breath of fresh air. They gave me a full VAG-COM diagnostic printout, including the temp. sender fault that my last dealer claimed "they couldn't find". I had a brake fluid upgrade (change to Super Dot4) & a standard oil-change service. It's difficult to compare costs, but I reckon it wasn't more (and was probably less) than a franchised dealer would have charged. Best of all, I got to talk to the people who were actually doing the work, and knew what they were talking about, instead of a receptionist hiding behind the office pot-plant.
