pedal issues

Featured Replies

hi all

Hope someone can help, having only had the car a few weeks(mk1 vrs) which i am loving, it has had some issues. First it wouldn't warm up so booked it in to get the thermostat done. after scaning the system code 17704 and 17705 came up. they changed the green 4 pin sensor and erased all codes.I have since checked the system again and the 17705 has not come back .Car is jurky at low rpm 1st to 4th,coil packs have just been done under recall. So when changing gear the gas pedal seems to push back and be stiffer, also then on the brakes and changing down the brake pedal moves to the floor slighty any ideas.

Basing this on your final comment. Brakes and clutch share the same hydraulic fluid, so maybe an issue with the reservoir or the master cylinder maybe? Might just want bleeding.

Bleeding these can be a bit of a PITA in the backside at times. There are 2 bleed nipples on the master cylinder and 1 on the clutch slave.

If you are considering doing a fluid change yourself then have a read on here about the best way to do it so you don't knacker the master cylinder.

Did you buy private or from a dealer? If dealer, I would suggest you return it and get them to bleed the brakes properly. I'm a little confused by your mention that the gas pedal seems to push back and be stiffer. If talking about the throttle, it's fly by wire... just a sensor and a spring...

I'm hoping you mean clutch. In which case this wants bleeding too. And bleeding the clutch can be a pita.

The jerkyness at low RPM is probably caused by split vacuum hoses and/or a faulty MAF. If you bought it from a dealer take it back to them to sort out.

Had a look around today and have noticed that the clip that holds the mat in place had broken so every time i change gear the mat gets hooked on the pedal and bend up behind the rest of them. So a trip to the dealers later this week for a new clip just the jurkyness to sort out.
