Door lock problems drivers side

Featured Replies

I have been having central locking problems with my Otavia for a number of years now and pulled the fuse to disable CL some time ago, use key to unlock and lock doors. Drivers side door will now unlock with key but wont lock key turns in barrel to left in an attempt to lock door but no resistance, however turning it to the right and there is resistance and door unlocks. Has something broken or just become disconnected inside door. I have a Haynes manual but it doesn't explain how barrel and lock are connected. Any help greatly appreciated.

I think this has been done to death if you have a search.

Instead of starting a new thread, I have a question and if anyone is able to answer it would be appreciated.

Here's what I've got.

- All doors lock and unlock remotely except the driver door

- Driver door locks okay, but won't unlock remotely. I have to use the key.

- Lights on buzzer isn't working.

- Driver puddle light isn't working.

My question is, is this down to cracked solder joints on the lock module, or something more than that?

Both. I was just looking to clarify whether it's cracked solder joints or if I need a new microswitch.

The way I read it the Central locking is not a factor as the fuse has been pulled? Therefore solder joints wont be a factor either. I would surmise from the description that something has happened to the paddle on the back of the lock barrel , which is a common fault on this type of lock . Its quite easy to remove the door lock to check. You have to get a Torx 20 and turn it 13-15 revolutions(I think) and NO MORE!Stop when you feel resistance. if you go too far the retaining collar will drop off and you will be cursing . At this point you should be able to withdraw the lock from the door. This is in the Haynes manual.
