What's this random part? (1.9TDI ALH)

Featured Replies

While searching for an oil leak, I found this random part hanging around near the inlet manifold.

Car is 2004 Octavia Classic 1.9 TDI ALH engine. 90bhp.

252000 miles.

Runs OK.

Does 57mpg.

I have driven it 6000 miles since I got it 10 weeks ago.

What does it do, does it need replacing?

That will be the electronic vacuum valve for the Anti-shudder butterfly valve which in the EGR assembly. Or at least that is my guess, it should have connectivity for 2 vacuum pipes. It should clip on the underside of EGR assembly I think, mine is broken so I tie-wrapped it into place.

Thats what the garage said.

Left it as it is!!!

Secure it, so it doesn't drop and melt on the manifold.
