Just wondering. Anyone know where Fabia's are made?

Fabia; Kvasiny and Mladá Boleslav Czech Republic

Thanks for the replies. I was curious as I'd heard that Skoda had factories in India and China also.

The link above seems to list the fabia production amongst factories in Czech and also China and India, so not sure what that means.

Was disappointed to think my imminent new fabia was being made outside of Europe.

Every possibility parts of it could come from the Asian continent :)

Skodas are bought in Asia, India & China etc,

probably customers there are worried that their car was built in Europe.

:D

You can actually find out which factory each car was made at, from the chassis number. A section of it (2 or 3 letters or numbers) corresponds to one of the factories. I remember looking up mine and turned out it was made in Mlada Boleslav. Unfortunately, that was back in 2009 when I bought it, so I'm afraid I can't remember where I found that info.

Thanks, i will search the chassis when i get it for a number.

Good news, I've found out again how to check it.

8 - Manufacturing plant <-- Note this number or letter off your car.

List of all VAG factories. Second column has the factory VIN ID codes. Look up the number or letter that's on your car to see what factory it relates to.

Thanks for this links FAB59, will use them. Strange that the numbers are sometimes duplicated between more than one factory.

In these countries VAG customers are allegedly being offered 5 year warranties on the 7 speed DSG gearbox due to reliability concerns. Not so in Europe.

You're more than welcome.

That's probably because there are far more factories than there are letters and single-digit numbers. I'm sure they are arranged in such a way that any two factories that share the same letter or number don't both make the same type of cars. If you look at the column with the vehicle production details, you can confirm that, the factory your letter or number relates to, does actually make cars like the one you're looking up. If not, then look at the next one on the list with that same letter or number, until you find a factory that makes cars like the one you have.

Big Sheep,

Maybe they are just getting a better service out of VAG than in the Western World where VAG get away with too much poor manufacturing.

As i understand it the 100,000 mile Warranty will be coming for us as well.

Skoda will certainly need to extend as standard the Warranty on vehicles when the General Public get common knowledge of their poor treatment of some Skoda buyers/owners.

ie vRS carry on.
