Aux in

Featured Replies

Should I be surprised that aux in gives poor sound quality on an iPod compared to Bluetooth streaming? Aux in seems ok when using the music player on my phone or my mini dab radio. With the iPod the voice element of some songs seems to be affected. I generally use the mdi, but couldn't today as it was my sons iPod 5, with the new apple fitting. Is it an issue with my aux in or to do with the complex technology of the iPod??

Thanks

Adam

Can you change the sensitivity levels for the Aux input? I am pretty sure that you can do it with the latest audio system, not too sure about the 2008 one. That might be your problem.

Thanks. There is a volume for aux, low, med or high, which is set to low. I think that is best for quality. The problem only occurs with an iPod so question is really whether the iPod is too complex for a simple 3.5mm jack connection? Id be surprised though as head phones use a jack too.

Are you using a 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable or a 3.5mm to ipod interface cable? The dedicated ipod cable gives far better quality sound and are about £3 on amazon, you can also get a cable with a usb split end which gives aux (3.5mm connection) and usb so you can charge and listen to your ipod at the same time.

Thanks, I'd normally use the mdi but was using aux in as my son's ipod is a ipod5 which uses a new "lightning" fitting, not yet compatible with the mdi. Am just a little worried that my aux in was perhaps playing up, given I fitted the mdi myself and rewired the aux into it.

Ah, the joys of using Apple products! I'm sure somone will bring a lightning to 3.5 mm cable as no-one makes one yet.... That. Could find anyway.
