2004 (04) FABIA VRS.

Totally standard and un-modified.

Comprehensive service history, folder full of bills and MOT's, 124,500 miles, metallic black with clean and fresh interior and boot and smart engine bay.

Air conditioning, Cruise Control, seats and interior in excellent condition.

Good tyres all round, alloys in very good condition with a couple of nicks here and there.

Symphony Radio/ 6 stacker CD under passenger seat

MOT- August -2013. Tax end of Feb. Service due approx June and probably needs a cambelt change.

Stonechip on the bonnet, a small scratch on the rear bumper and sometimes when it's cold, a remote grumble from one of the front wheel bearings which upon inspection has no play on either side and according to the garage is not an urgent repair.

I've priced this to Sell, with the service and little niggles taken into consideration.

I am away on business from Monday 18th Feb, back Friday 22nd. Car available for viewings daytime and weekends before or after those dates, in East Sussex.

Please email [email protected] for a quick and polite reply.

What plate is this on? (I can't see it in the description unless my eyes have skipped over it)

would you take a p/x?

I knew I'd left something out...

2004 on an 04 number plate.

Turbo replaced by Main dealer in 2006 approx 50,000miles.

Sorry no p/ex unless it's a 5-door Audi A3 tdi.

Thanks.. I know this is no good but I'd be seriously interested in this come April/May but unfortunately don't have the finances at present. For age and mileage, the condition appears to be unbeatable! Good luck with the sale

Looks good, did you not just buy this?

Only bought this car recently with a view to replacing our BMW 3-series V6 Estate which is a killer on the petrol at 18mpg.

For those who are considering the VRS as a family car (with a dog, a six-foot teenager and the occasional long trips), I would advise against it.

Fuel economy is brilliant, but adult-sized passengers in the back will find it a bit cramped and it doesn't feel as big and solid as the BM on the motorway, although there's more than enough power. Fabias look much bigger in pictures but they are quite small in reality.

It's a great car for bombing about the B-roads in and I was also considering to run it alongside my BMW as a bit of weekend fun to help me through my mid-life crisis, but funds aren't going to allow that, as my wife reliably informs me.

So, unfortunately she's up for sale. Nothing to hide, no excuses, nothing wrong with it, and any prospective purchaser is welcome to contact the specialist Skoda/Audi/VW Garage who have done the last service/repair work and who know the car, and also have any 3rd party inspections as well as a nice long test-drive with me driving unless you've got fully-comp insurance.

Not too keen on haggling and nit-picking and hope it will sell reasonably quickly at the advertised price so I can move on and get a boring Audi which I should have done in the first place.

Have to say while I'm on, what a great forum this is and appreciate the help/advice given in my previous posts.

Dave, if it's still for sale in April/May, then I'll put your name on it. Probably cheaper by then! lol.

Do come back to me if so although i am certain you'll sell. Do you know, is it still on the original clutch? And if you don't mind me asking a few other things, how are the door seals (does it steam up badly inside?) and regarding the need for the timing belt change, do you know when the last one was in terms of mileage and age?

Many Thanks

I can't see any bills for the clutch so it probably is. No slipping, nice and light. Door seals are fine, no misting up inside even in these torrents but I usually use air-con in this weather. Timing belt was done nearly five years ago at 76,000.

Tyres are both 8mm on the front and 4 and 5mm on the rears.

Car's going on PistonHeads today and eBay when I get back.

This will not hang around long at the asking price. I recently advertised my 03 plate vRS with 134k at £2500 on Gumtree. I had loads of enquiries and it sold within a few days at near the asking price. It did have a Shark stage one map though

Half a dozen enquiries within an hour of putting it on Pistonheads but everyone asking what my lowest price is for cash today.

It's the price in the ad, which is why it's priced to sell. Everyone seems to want money off.

Should I have advertised the starting price higher?

Probably. People like to haggle, it makes them feel better even if they pay more :) Stick to your guns!

Price changed to £2995 ONO.

Had the phone put down on me twice this morning from people on PH because I wouldn't give them 'a lowest price'.

Some charming manners about. I detest selling cars. I understand now why some dealers appear un-interested, bitter and hard-nosed. They are probably sick of all the idiots who ring up.

I hope I sell it to someone on here who's got a modicom of respect for the car and the owner.

Having said all that, I now have A Lowest Price.

I feel for you, that's one reason why I keep putting off selling mine.

I understand the need to be cheeky and try your luck, but I've had in the past some down right rude and abusive people on the phone.

Good luck

Thanks M12MKD.

I can understand buyers wanting to get money off. We all do. But only after seeing the car and maybe wanting a bit knocked off for a wheel refurb or some tax etc.

I don't mind that, but it doesn't seem to be the Way of the World these days. They want a chunk of money off before they even view the car. And then after agreeing that price, they'll (probably) want more money off when they see it.

However, whenever I've tried to buy a car from a dealer in the past they wouldn't budge on the sticker price as they said everything was perfect and so I have walked away and someone else has bought it for the full price.

My new strategy is to have a Higher Asking Price, with a Lowest Price in my head that I won't ever drop below, even if they are waving £50 notes in my face.

I'm too old-fashioned, but I think it probably applies to everything you sell these days.

You'll sell this in no time. Sit tight for your price!

Thanks for that. I hope so.

I've just had a conversation with a rather unfriendly bloke from Manchester who couldn't understand why I wouldn't take £2300. He demanded my postcode and when I wouldn't give it to him...he put the phone down.

Hello again

I'm still very interested, I'm going to see if I can raise any funds ahead of time. I probably can't but if I can, are you open to a weekend collection? I'm pretty much stuck with Saturday availability only?

Many Thanks

David

Hi David,

I can do Saturdays, no problem. To be honest I'm not in a desperate rush to sell the car so we might be able to make things happen re your timing if you could get a bit nearer than April. It's polished up, under a warm cover and not being driven until sold.

You're more than welcome to come and see the car whenever you like with no obligation to buy.

Chap rings up from Newcastle yesterday wanting to drive down and view the car at 9.30 last night. (I'm down South, miles away from Newcastle). He expected to put the car up on axle stands on my drive and crawl under it with a torch, then take it for a test drive on his 3rd Party insurance in the dark, then make me an offer, probably on the stroke of midnight. Maybe he thought I'd have Hypothermia by then and would take £1000 to get out of the cold.

Do people really buy cars like this?

This week has certainly been an eye-opener.

I had someone coming from hull yesterday to buy my fabia vrs, he wanted to be at mine in newcastle for 8am, i finish work at 2am so i told him 10 would be ok. guy confirmed with me at 10pm friday night, next day total no show, wouldnt answer his phone or even have the decency to cancel. some total jokers out there. nice fabia GLWS
