Urgent help please

There are two hooks for want of a better name above the sprocket. pictured arrowed here : http://www.myturbodi...st-Idle-TDI.htm

Draw a straight line on a piece of paper and have a assistant hold this so the it lines up with one of the hooks. Make small adjustments and watch the hook move away from your stationary line. Anticlockwise towards firewall is advanced timing, clockwise towards grill is retarded if using a sprocket bar. If your is reading -7 it is very advanced and needs retarding. -3 +3 is the range so adjust it bit by bit till you hit 0.0 - 0.5. And remember vcds will read out of range as 0.0 so make sure to adjust the right way and check each time with vcds.
