gearbox/clutch or engine mounts ? Felly 1.3

Featured Replies

anyone u got any idea on this Felicia 1.3 problem my latest reading is it may be engine/gearbox mounts ..... ian

now another problem. Driving up the m6 the other night the steering went somehow light and jerky and really like it was intermittently trying to pull me into another lane when I lifted off a bit.

As well as this there was a horrible smell coming from the front of the drivetrain back into the cabin.

Managed to get car off m way and AA patrol man was unable to diagnose anything possible except it might be gearbox clutch from th smell. Car was a bit easier to drive when cold but I got him to trailer me home. I'm thinking gearbox clutch driveshafts .

Has anyone had this before. .

Ian

Gearbox/clutch wouldn't pull you into another lane when you backed off a bit.

I've had inner CVs go wrong in a car (Escort), made it quite nasty to drive, so possibly that? Easy enough to change, possibly the smell would be inner CV leaking CV grease onto the exhaust at speed?

Any history of your car? Driving style? Recent repairs? All those info can help us help you.

A slipping clutch has an unmistakable odor, different from any CV grease on exhaust, if that's even possible.
