Featured Replies

hiya guys have had the pro sport coilovers on since xmas but had to cut rollbar off to get droplinks to fit as rollbar was knackered anyway so now i have funds have to get the mercedes vito 250 mm drop links and a new farb was hoping you could steer me in the right direction as done some searching and cant seem to get a reasonable price on either so hoping you guys may be able to help me out all help is much appreciated thanks guys

Try euro car parts for drop links.

The FARB will need to come from a parts supplier that sells OEM parts.

Like

VWspares - AVS car parts

TPS - trade parts specislist.

Hope this helps.

pmd you mate thanks never had so much hassle finding the drop links to fit the pro sport coilovers

Could you share the code, ta!

Or could someone clarify the exact model they're from. Going to get them tomorrow and don't want to be wrong.

i still dont have a clue either yet mate trying to find the part number is extremely hard as euro car parts and gsf and places have said on phone they need part number before they can help so frustrating if you find anything out before me please give me a shout as this is driving me nuts

Just ordered my prosports from DPM

GSF part numbers: 427ME0260 and 427ME0270

They are handed, and from a merc vito 638.

Why go through all the hassle?

So your connecting the arb to the wishbone?

Doing this means you need a thicker arb to do the same job if that makes sence.

Its like holding a weight in your hand and using your other arn to lift. Up nearer your hand makes it easy. Down toward your elbow is harder.

Hence why vrs is connected to the strut. (Lifting nearer the hand)

And not on the wishbone (lifting from nearer the elbow)

eh

love your phases buddy..

Billy that is not what they are doing they are still connecting the drop link from strut to FARB.

But the Pro Sport coilovers have the ARB bracket lower down which means you can't fit the std VRS drop link. Some members have found that the Merc vito is 250mm and fits instead of the 336mm VRS one.

Good find by members but i do say why is the Pro Sport stating fit's for the VRS if it does not fit in a STD way to the std VRS parts. Not good IMO

But as the price is good and members have given it a thumbs up you could argue a good find.

spose, shouldnt be advertised as a straight fit tho. Ide be ****ed if I got them and they didnt fit.

I am getting mixed between multiple threads. he is asking other Qs n someone said to connect to the wishbone thats all.

imho this is still true with these coilovers

£210 - quality must have been compromised

i agree, they clearly aren't even designed for the vrs, as if they were the standard droplinks would fit, bet these are for something like the golf, and not weighted correctly either, but just sold as 'fitting' the octy.

They are listed as fitting just 3 vehicles.

LCR, vRS and the fwd TT (8N iirc).

Thats all they are listed for.

They have the same weight rating as the weitecs.

As said on another thread, I have prosports on 1 of my vrs's and I have weitec's on the other and there is little differnce in ride between them on the road.

Yes the prosport quality isn't the same as Weitec, but your not paying weitec prices are you.

The prosports are £200 and weitec now are £700, DPM give 5 years warranty on the prosports, so you could in theory get 17.5 years out of the prosports before they have cost you the same as the weitecs.

I will agree, I wasn't best pleased when I had to go and find some droplinks that would fit, but at the same time, i've been used to having to modify things to fit when buying aftermarket parts for cars over the years.

Even when you spend top money for "top brands" 90% of the time they don't just bolt on (obviously i'm not talking specifically about coilovers here, just modifications in general).

they can list whatever they like, doesnt mean its right...

look at beef(horse) mince for a prime example of this.

If its right for oe application, there is no way in hell you would have to fit another (non vag product) no less to fit them and make them work.

Sorry but thats just not on in my opinion!

Clearly these were not designed for the vrs, how can they be, with droplinks placed in the wrong place?

I would take the weight ratings too with a pinch of salt, considering the fact they clearly lie by saying they fit the vrs. Again, they may be ok now, but how long will they last, thats the test i guess.

Most top brand vag products do fit, i have fitted a whole number of vag tuning parts in the past, autotech, neuspeed, weitec, kw, brembo, milltek, jetex, eurosport, forge tyrolsport etc, all have fitted as they should, without me having to buy pug, mitsubish, mercedes, kia parts to make it work. Things might need a bit of fiddling, but not like this.

Maybe the jap tuning market is different, not sure as have no experience there.

Awww c'mon Luca, you just KNOW you want to fit some Kia bits to your motor... ;)

i was considering a kia sedona sliding door instead of my rear door, just need to get the 12" grinder out to start opening the side of the car up a bit

Agree, Quality plus someone must of had the strut up the wrong way in the design shop  , and fitted the drop link bracket in wrong place

Is it not just because the body of the strut is threaded for lowering and they had to move the mounting point below the threads?

nope cant be as the KW and weitecs are all spot on and they have threads

Is it not just because the body of the strut is threaded for lowering and they had to move the mounting point below the threads?

No it's because the struts are shorter than the standard ones.

Another thing to look at is, just because they "say" they are weighted correctly for the vrs doesn't mean they are. Like they say they are a direct fit for vrs which they defo aren't. Would not touch these with a barge pole.
