To remove spare tyre and raised boot floor to create more space?

Featured Replies

Hello,

My new Yeti L&K will come with a spare tyre and the raised boot floor. There will be occasions then I'd want the extra boot space so would like to remove the tyre and lower the floor. I had a quick look at one in the showroom and see I need to remove the polystyrene tubs around the wheel (6mm Hex?) and possibly replace the raised floor with a standard flat one (as supplied to non spare tyre Yetis). On my non spare tyre yeti there is also a polystyrene packing piece that fits where the wheel would have gone for the hardboard floor to rest on. Does anyone know if these are the only two items I would need to create a lower floor or even if the raised floor covering can be used in the lower position?

Thanks

Simon

Those 2 items are all you need. (Plus a rubber boot mat!)

Got a brand new/unused set if you are interested, as I replaced from day 1 with a spare wheel kit, that was not available as an option on the Urban.

The original raised floor will fit flat on the floor, tuck the front under the lifting bar on the centre seat.

Also the floor is think and firm, so you don't need the spare wheel thin foam.

That sounds the OP best option.

Hi all, Its amazing the extra book space removing the spare wheel can create, much needed with 3 young kids!

Having taken the spare wheel and polystyrene inserts out i am looking to purchase the wheel cover and standard floor cover and was wondering if anyone know of the part numbers or better still is looking to sell?

Thanks

David
