Rapid now on the SUK used locator

Featured Replies

I think too many folk went for a well priced mk2 octavia instead. Once these have gone, be interesting to see if the rapid picks up.

If I went for one, it'd need a well powered engine and good spec. I'd prefer an estate next.

Perhaps it's the small engines causing people to overlook it?

Currently 124 and not quite 4 months from launch :S

That's about normal surely if every dealer had a demo they now wish to sell?

Think it took a year to get this number of used Yeti's :giggle:

Would have thought though if the car was proving popular these demo's would have already gone, plus a number of dealers are advertising 3, 4 or more for sale, which must be pre reg stock their not shifting. Further note many are the original spec before SUK panicked and upped the spec's; note SE trims without fogs and only registered last month.

But fully loaded or just base specs?

Looking at a random selection, then the older reg one's (Sep/Nov) are optioned but later less so and old stock as the SE, as mentioned above, are missing fog lights.

So no real bargains out there?

SUK either needs to drop the price another 20% (and then put 0% VAT / no deposit offers on top to undo their sales flop) or put stronger engines in the Rapid (unlikely now, but a longer term option). Rapid does appear to work/sell as an extended Fabia outside UK, but pricing there is 20%-40% lower than in the UK.

In the UK, at current price levels, the Rapid won't see many sales, especially that in the Skoda range it will lose to a well specced Roomster most times when it is a family buy. Kids like Roomster more, and the few weak Roomster points are also present in the Rapid, such as some factory fit/finish niggles and mildly disappointing 1.6CR diesels that are very thirsty in town and require frequent replacement of DPF sensors.

Speaking to our local dealer today & they were really negative about the car, they just cant sell them. Skoda will have to drop prices massivly to shift the existingh cars & then quickly do something to get a quality feel into what is a seriously bland car that lacks a quality look or feel

Wonder if the release of the Octy III will assist the sales of the Rapid.

Does the line up become clearer now or will that not happen until the replacement Superb is out?? For years the core line up has been Fabia -> Octavia -> Superb, with the Yeti & Roomster slotting in amongst them.

However it is now Citigo -> Fabia -> Rapid -> Octavia -> Superb / Yeti.

Would personally view the new Octy III S/SE trim with the 1.2TSI, as a better investment than any Rapid as things stand currently.

I think the blandness of the Rapid & its poor sales at launch may actually harm the Octy when it comes along which looks nearly identical, just 10% bigger

And I wouldnt touch a 1.2 in anything bigger than an Fabia. Even 1.4 at a push in a Rapid, but no way in an Octavia. Even if it is a TSI
