Kenwood DNX 521 DAB -- please help

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I have been to the kenwood website but the info is not clear.

This has already been posted in the ICE forum but no replies yet :wonder:.

Is this unit compatible with an MK2 VRS MFSW. What features are supported/ not supported?

Does it talk to maxidot? Are there any limitations of the unit compared to Amundsden+ accessing the phone functions.

Any fascia/trim required to fit ? Any adapters/cables/harnesses required.

Thanks,

I looked into one of these. Maxidot requires coding in. Steering wheel will work ok and you need the Columbus surround to fit it.

All the cables except the ipod cable are included and that includes a GPS aerial that needs to be mounted somewhere (under the dash).

HTH.

I believe that you can use the mfsw but lose maxidot compatability. New facia trim is needed. The cars harness should plug straight in. The Bluetooth side should be good as its a parrot module.

Metblackrat,

Maxidot requires coding in. Not sure what you mean. Is this something done with a diagnostics tool?

here can i buy the trim from? Simon TDI sport - the bluetooth is telechips not parrot.Stealers charge £1300 to supply and fit. These are available on fleabay for £829.

Any ideas where this can be done cheaper. I am in hertfordshire.

I was told £999 fitted at Skoda Letchworth, that was a while ago though. Can't see it getting that much more expensive.

Coding means telling thecar you have navigation installed for it to display on the Maxidot, something the dealer will do as part of the install.

I did find a website that pointed to a company in Bradford who, once a month travel down to South Mimms services and install the unit there. I think they charged £899 all in but kept the Bolero they took out.

Hi Metblackrat - I'm in the same boat (or Car - VRS 2.0 DSG)

Initially thought of OEM Bluetooth - but considering most are charging 400£ including fitting thinking of the Kenwood. I'm based in Watford - If you find something local maybe we haggle for 2 installations?

-A

That was for B1@ckVr5 .. obviously
