Heater blower on FL vRS

Featured Replies

When I get in the car sometimes and try the blower on the heater controls, it doesn't work. I have to thump underneath the glove box to make it come on. Is it likely to be a loose plug or is there something else wrong ? It's just over 2 years old now but with 82000 miles on the clock (taxi) :-) if its a loose wire/plug then I expect I would have to remove the glovebox. Does anyone know how to remove the glovebox ? Thanks.

Just take it into skoda it should be under warenty.

As above, but if you feel the need to fiddle yourself, then there are some screws along the top and at the bottom. Easy really, but watch the wiring to the lamp.

My old mk1 had similar symptoms, turned out to be worn brushed and a bit of shorting on the comm. Easily rectified.

It won't be under warrenty any more. It has done over 60k and is over 2 years old.

Back on topic, there is no harm in taking off the glovebox cover to have a look is there. You never know it might be something easy to fix :)

Firstly, I've been buying these cars for 12 years and am quite aware the warranty has just run out.

Now, does anyone have any ideas about heater blower replacement or a fix for the problem I have. I've never had this problem on a car in 25 years of driving so it's a new one on me :-)

I've taken the glove box out and had a look but there doesn't appear to be anything "hanging off".......so I assume the brushes are worn. Is it easy to replace these ? Or would it be more cost effective to replace with a second hand motor ?
