Self service...what do you reccomend?

Featured Replies

Hi guys I own a fabia Vrs 1.9tdi. The service is due in 1000 miles. Now I'm wanting to keep the car for a good 5 years so I'm not fussed about getting the car serviced at a skoda garage. The belt was changed in 2010 at 60k miles so I don't need to change that. I just want to change oil , oil filter , glow plugs and fuel filter. I have a k&n panel filter which doesn't need changing. So the big question is. Will I be able to service my car? I'm a precision engineer and know my way round cars but I nervous about service the trusty pdi engine as I have heard they need tlc. Also I live in the Leeds area so does anybody know where I can get genuine parts? Cheers

Genuine parts obviously from a Skoda dealer to include a new sump plug and washer, if the glow plugs are currently OK, leave well alone until they fail, it's fairly easy but don't over tighten the sump plug they can easily strip.
