hose in inlet?

Featured Replies

Can anyone quickly tell me what that small hose does that goes into the top half of the plastic inlet box that sits on top of the filter? its next to the main inlet hose and goes next to the MAF.

thanks :)

Dunno where to put it when your fitting an induction kit..?

I've fitted an induction kit but i've had to leave the top half of the inlet in as i dont know what it does and didnt want to disconnect anything i was unsure about.

I think it's a breather pipe. You can put a small filter on it.

What kind of filter is it? Does it have a plastic base?

If you you can drill a small hole in the filter and put the pipe into that hole to keep it sort of oem still.

So what does it actually do then?

As far as i can see it goes into the top box and then its cut off once inside. does it actually do anything? it runs back to the black box on the left of the engine bay that has other small hoses going into it.

The box on the left is the vacuum box that controls things like the EGR. The hose going to the airbox I would imagine is the breather for it, probably best to put a small filter on it since it was originally fitted on the top side (clean side) of the airbox.

Cool beans. even though it leads to no where? just seems daft to me!

Ah well. i'll put it into the breather.

thanks ya'll.

I also didnt know that was a breather box!

It's a vac pipe. I left it to atmosphere when I fitted my old induction kit and it kept hesitating and drove crap. Like phil-j said drill a hole in your induction kit and fit it, yhats what I've done to my k&n

It isn't a 'breather box'

This is my pipe I drilled and pushed in. Drives fine so all good

I would imagine it leads to the airbox so that the vacuum box itself can draw/expel clean air for its numerous vacuum-related jobs.

That is what it does mate. I thought it was a breather at first and left it to atmosphere and had running probs but now I've drilled it into my k¬ its fine
