oil catch can recommend

Featured Replies

i know theirs loads of post about this and i have read through loads.cant seem to get a straight answer as to wht size of pipe needed for rocker cover? 19mm or 22mm ?. also what could anyone recommend wht oil catch can to get.dont want anything expensive though, and if using a catch can do i need to put somthing in it like brillo pads? do i need to put a hose inside the can and put it to the bottom of the can past the pads? sorry for asking questions that probs have already bn asked.links and pics would be gd also.thanks.

I have wonderd all I this also

If using a catch can it will have everything in it as they are sealed. You can make one from a metal sports drink bottle that's when you need to put the brilliant pad in etc. I'd say go for any off of ebay tbh. Not sure on pipe sorry, I need to do mine too

This is the one I had fitted. It arrived empty but I made a custom filtering material as pictured which in theory should have worked but didn't, maybe it was just the way I did it. Anyway use these as inspiration. I've got this can and the fittings, wool and a piece of pipe lying around if you're interested in them.

I have since removed my can and put a 1m long hose under the car to atmosphere, less maintenance for me.

EDIT: It's a 22m hole on the CCV but a 19m pipe will stretch to fit, also it'll fit the 15mm inlets on the catch can better than a 22.

not that big but i empty it about every four to five weeks when i have a check of air filter top up washer bottle make sure theres no leaks that i can see had one of those big red cans but it looked silly under bonnet so got small one of ebay keeps it looking neat and tidy

Agree 19mm does the job perfect. You can block the inlet manifold hole with a 19mm bung from B&Q the ones for bottom of chairs, tables.

I always think venting to atmosphere is better than a can.

Is there a guide for doing this mod? I'd like to do mine but I think I'd do the pipe to atmosphere rather than the can method.

If your only going to vent straight to atmosphere then all you'll need is a length of hose 19mm od with a jubilee clip and a bung for the inlet manifold take of the black pipe that goes from the cam cover to the inlet little black hose with ninety degree bend fit new hose to cam cover and feed down back of engine bay and put 25mm bung over inlet hole with a jubilee clip job done there is a guide somewhere on here but don't think it has pics might be wrong though
