STOLEN: Mondeo ST220

Featured Replies

Saw this on another forum I frequent and posted it here in the hope that someone might see the car or have some info.

Reg #: LJ52 KAK

Car was parked outside house, alarmed. all house was locked up and keys hung up on key hanger upper thing. Looks like that have forced the kitchen window open and used a cane (garden cane) to hook the key.

And off they went

Car looks as below, stolen from Preston on the night of 03 June 2005 around midnight, any information helpful - im pretty sure theyre arent many st220's in the same trim etc as this so it will be easily spottable.

Full privacy glass all over, all red leather interior, there is a mark, scratch type mark on the rear windscreens privacy glass, a mark on the bonnet where you can see its been touched up and the front right alloy has a deep ish scratch/slice in it where its been eroding from a curb inicident that was there when we bought it.

Basically as the police have already told us the insurance wont have anything to do with it because they have the keys and its not been *broken* into.

Anyways, pic below anyone see's it gimme a call on 07966 185251 -

Makes your blood boil doesn't it...

From the rest of the thread (available here ) it seeems he's leaned on the insurance company pretty hard and threatened them with the ombudsman. I think they'll pay up if the car isn't recovered.

bloody right it should, would they pay out if you got mugged and subsequently had your car nicked?

why won't the insurance do anything about it? its been stolen, taken without the owners permission... shouldnt make any difference if they have the keys or not....

I can't find it regged on here http://www.twoc.co.uk/

Might be worth a go for him

You should get insurance money, but they may try and reduce the amount 'cause the thieveing scum had the keys. I agree though, not as if you left them in the door is it? Then again, we all know what insurance companies are like. Stupid country this, the victim always pays/gets the blame.

Out of interest, i read a statistic from Greater Manchester Police a year or so ago, 45% of all cars stolen are taken this way, i.e. keys taken through letterbox.

Hope you don't get too much more hassle.

If they try to reduce the claim payout because they argue he wasn't in propor control of the keys then I think he'll need this website -

https://www.moneyclaim.gov.uk/csmco/login.jsp

That would be my choice without a doubt.

Its enough to make you want to sleep at night, with your keys under your pillow. :( :thumbdwn:

Thats the problem Jason, they do expect that.

My attitude is that I'll leave the keys downstairs, then when they break in to steal them they don't beat the sh!t out of me and SWMBO first. If they want the motor and keys they get them whatever.

Thats why I keep it insured.
