Tyre and alloy wheel insurance

Featured Replies

Has anyone got this or recommend it?

Do you mean the tyres and wheels covered against accidental damage,

other than insured on the car with comprehensive insurance cover for the car?

Separate cover for punctures/tyre damage and wheel scuffs etc

Has anyone found anything on this yet? Just got the monte carlo and very nervous aboud scuffs on the wheels!

Plenty of them around, worth for run-flat tyres (or generally expensive rubber) and expensive alloys. I took it out on my Beemer as run flats are ridiculously expensive and cannot be repaired (there is conflicting legislation on it and some do it some won't).

Seems like a good idea but will depend on the small print. Do though look around for this and do not take what a garage offers you. Toyed with the idea of buying a Mini some months ago and was being offered these plus Gap insurance for the princely sum of £ 1500 When I looked into these 'Which' turned up quotes of less than £ 500 for the same cover and period.

I must admit that being able to make upto three claims a year (please correct this if I have got this wrong, it was 4 months ago when I looked at this for the first and only time so I could be talking utter ......) to deal with stone chips/car park dings etc and scuffs to alloy wheels does seem attractive, especially at £500 all in, but at £1500 I felt this was a just a little steep.

If you have already got your car, then I think you only have a limited period of time before you must take this out, so if you are going to do it then you may need to do so soon.

Didn't buy the Mini in the end and kept the vRS.
